Gail D. Rash, Pastor's Wife
Harvest Church of the Nazarene
Gail was born December 1, 1947 in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Bert & Ardis Fromm. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene right from the start, and attended Bismarck Public Schools, graduating from Bismarck High in 1965. After a year at Bismarck Junior College, she attended and graduated in 1969 from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor of science degree in home economics and a minor in English. She married Thomas E. Rash June 20, just a month after their college graduation. While in their first pastorate in Charlevoix, Michigan, she taught English and started a home economics department at Boyne Falls, Michigan. After three years the Rashes moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Consolidated School District Number One offered Gail a teaching position in their home economics department at Smith-Hale Junior High. She was also the yearbook advisor for the four years they were in Kansas City. She was also involved in teaching Sunday school and in the choir at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene. Tom accepted a minister of music position at Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene, and later at Excelsior Springs Church of the Nazarene. Gail was involved in the music also singing in the choir as well as duets with Tom, and playing organ and piano. After Tom graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1976, the couple moved to Macon, Georgia. They have served seven churches on the Georgia District over these last thirty-one years. The Rashes were blessed with a daughter, Krista in 1985. Krista currently lives in Douglasville, Ga.
Besides serving in various positions in the local churches, she has served as a children’s camp director and as a district missionary council member. Gail is currently the district missionary treasurer. She teaches private piano lessons and works at Coastal Medical Billing. Sister Rash is accomplished on the piano and keyboard. In addition to playing for every church service, she often lends her voice to special duets with her husband.
Gail is a special sort of Pastor's wife. She has her own Calling from the Lord to minister to the Church alongside her husband. At the Harvest Church of the Nazarene, we are blessed to have her leadership and friendship in addition to that of her husband's. In our church, Gail modestly and quietly serves in any way she can whether it is planting flowers, playing music, running the Missions program, cleaning, visiting the sick, or offering quiet counsel to those who seek her out. Their love of the Lord and each other reflects out as a beacon to all who know them. Though neither would say so and both will be embarrassed to read such, together they exemplify what it means "to minister" and they quietly model what it means to be a "holiness people."
