God is Working Even Now

God is working. He's still working. God is working even now. Though we often don't know just how, God is working; He's still working; God is working even now. This is the chorus of a song sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. It fits us well.
The journey we have taken over the past three years has sometimes seemed like wondering in the wilderness. Since leaving the church on Mohawk St. we have worshipped in the Progressive Center and then in the chapel of the Hubert C. Baker funeral home. Some have wondered if we would have a place to call our own again. We became impatient and tired of "waiting on the Lord." We have even heard some say they were tired of hearing it said that we were waiting on the Lord. But if we had not waited on Him we would not be where we are today. We would have a church building partially constructed and unoccupied. We would be out of money and still in debt. However, because we waited, God answered our prayers and gave us a place of our own free of debt.
The miracles God performed along the way are very evident now. However, at the time we often wondered if God heard our prayers. He knew what He was doing even if we didn't. Now it is evident that God was working even when we couldn't see it. He helped us to sell the property on Grove Point Rd. and the steel building so that we would have the money to buy Faith Lutheran Church here on Waters Ave. when it became available.
Though we grew tired of waiting we have learned some valuable lessons. We have learned the truth of Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declared the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (NIV)
Those who have not been on the entire journey with us cannot fully appreciate what God has done. If you look around you will see plenty of work inside and outside that still needs to be done. However, if you saw the church when we first bought it, you know that we have made vast improvements to the building and property. So continue to be patient. God isn't through with us yet. He's still working and we are still working. There is much to do yet. We still have a lot of outside work to do on the soffit and fascia. There is painting and other work that still needs to be done. However, we wanted to dedicate these buildings and grounds now because we realize that the most important work to be done here is spiritual. It involves winning the lost to our Savior and teaching them how to walk with Him. So be patient. He's still working.
