Here is a striking picture: the brilliance of heaven's holiness face to face with the most sinister evil-Jesus to Judas; the Messiah to His betrayer. Judas had stealthily laid the "hand-over" plot, and his cohorts entered the garden under the cover of darkness.
I took a break from my study to look out the back door of our second-floor apartment. A neighborhood boy quickly peered one way and then the other to see who was watching. Then he dropped some tools and scrap iron over a wall. I had watched a thief on his getaway trek! He clearly was concerned to move quickly and secretly.
In our passage today, we see the Light, "the radiance of the Father's glory," face to face with corruption's darkness. Jesus said it, "Light has come into the world, but [humans] loved darkness instead of light, because their deeds were evil" (John 3:19). For those who open their heart's door, His light dispels the darkness. He came to conquer evil. Through Him, we, too, can be "more than conquerors!" | | Paul Martin | ![]() | | SING TO THE LORD | For the darkness shall turn to dawning, And the dawning to noon-day bright, And Christ's great kingdom shall come to earth- The kingdom of love and light. | | "We've a Story to Tell to the Nations" by H.
